“Unprofessional or a Coward”: Rafi Aronov’s Fight Canceled
by: Geva Yankelevich – Israel’s MMA Celebrity Writer

The Israeli fighter’s opponent withdrew for an unknown reason – and also: the status of his contract in England.

March was expected to deliver plenty of action for Israeli MMA, including two title fights featuring Israeli fighters – Stav Koren and Ilay Barzilay. However, a third fighter who was scheduled to compete, Rafi Aronov, will not be stepping into the cage for his planned bout.
As a reminder, Aronov was set to face British fighter Taiwo Adunjo at event number 203 of the Cage Warriors promotion, but his opponent withdrew unexpectedly just a few weeks before fight night. In a conversation with Sport5, Aronov responded to the cancellation of his fight due to an unknown reason.

“Who the hell gets injured three weeks before a fight?” he said. “Either you’re unprofessional or you’re a coward. I tend to think it’s the second option. In any case, I’m staying in shape and staying sharp. I’m confident — just like when I got my opportunity to enter Cage Warriors in exactly the same way – that the next opportunity will come soon.”

As a reminder, Aronov is currently riding a two-fight win streak and holds an 8–6 record. He defeated Brad Wheeler and Danny Blundell in his last two fights, scoring major knockouts in the second and first rounds respectively. Unfortunately for him, this cancellation means more than just a lost fight.

Since no replacement opponent was found, the British promotion decided that Aronov would effectively complete his contract with Cage Warriors, so as not to hold back his potential progress. He is now looking to continue his path with other MMA organizations currently on the market.
